When Aravyn's eyes fluttered open, it was still dark outside, and the moon sat high above the sky, its light flickering through the curtains. He looked at Dhastav, who was sleeping next to him, facing the opposite direction. His heart was beating fast, and he didn't realize that he was sweating until he sat up and ran his hand through his wet hair. By then he also realized he was hungry, but not the regular kind of hungry. He felt as if he wanted blood. He sighed and laid back down, closing his eyes, trying to resist the urge like he had before. After a few minutes, he sat up again, unable to fall back asleep, and glanced at his sleeping mate again, his heart racing.

I'll just go out and feed on someone real quick, he thought, I'll be back before he wakes up, he'll never know. Aravyn got out of bed, being as quiet as he could, and walked upstairs, his mind so engulfed in the thought of blood that he forgot to put on his robe. Luckily his vampiric night vision helped him see better in the dark, that way he wouldn't end up running into things and making noise, as normal humans would.

He made it out the door, closing it slowly and noiselessly. That was when he saw his first prey pass him by, an Imperial. He lunged at the human, thirsty for his blood.

The sound of footsteps echoing could be heard, and the light from fire could be seen through the dark curtains as Dhastav opened his eyes sleepily. He shifted around, about to pass off the noise as common, when he noticed that Aravyn was missing. He rubbed his eyes as he sat up and looked around the room for him.

    Vin?"

He could now hear people shouting angrily, as he turned to look at the window, and saw the light of fire. That was when he knew something was wrong. Dhastav got dressed quickly, running upstairs and out of the house to see Imperial guards rushing towards one of the gates. His first thought was that the city was being attacked, and Aravyn noticed earlier and went to help, but as he got closer to the gate, he saw a small group of soldiers gathered around in a circle formation, and flames spewed upward and around, killing a few, as more replaced them. As Dhastav cautiously approached the soldiers, he recognized a Dunmer in the middle of them, and as he squinted to make out who it was, he gasped and ran towards them.

Dhastav pushed through the soldiers to get to Aravyn, who was throwing fire magic at them, whom in return, shouted angrily at him, and tried to attack him.

"Aravyn!" Dhastav shouted, and Aravyn heard and turned his head towards him. "Vin..." He mumbled as he saw what had happened to his lover. Aravyn's eyes were pure red, his pupil's were extremely small. Blood dripped from his mouth and covered his neck and parts of his bare chest. He turned away from Dhastav as a soldier swung his sword at him, but Aravyn dodged and the soldier was burned by his magic. Aravyn jumped at the soldier as he fell dead, his mouth wrapping around his neck as he sucked the blood dry in a matter of seconds. Dhastav grabbed at Aravyn from behind, pulling him away from the Imperial soldier.

"NO, stop!" He cried desperately, wrapping his arms around his crazed mate, trying to control him. It was no use, for Aravyn was too strong for him, and he pushed Dhastav away, angrily throwing a fireball at him, knocking Dhastav onto the ground. Dhastav was shocked at what Aravyn had done to him, but he feared more what would happen to Aravyn as a soldier got behind him and knocked Aravyn unconscious.

Back when I had first thought about making this fan-fic, I had planned to make Aravyn go blood-crazy sometime. I kind of forgot about it until recently, so I actually sort of just made it up today.
